DelaySon by Sonimus is a tape-inspired delay plugin that recreates the warmth of vintage echo units. If you’ve used any of Sonimus’ analog-modeled plugins (like SonEQ or Satson), you’ll recognize the same attention to analog character here. DelaySon is Sonimus’s first time-based effect, and it’s a confident debut. The interface is divided into three clean sections. The Color section offers modulation depth for wow/flutter-style movement, a tone control for shaping the brightness of the echoes, and a low-cut filter to keep the repeats from getting muddy.

The Time section handles delay time (in milliseconds or tempo-synced) and wet/mix balance. The Delay section provides feedback up to 200% for self-oscillation effects, stereo widening via a left/right offset, and a Drive switch that adds tape-style saturation to the signal. The modulation and tone controls are where the magic happens with DelaySon. They turn a basic delay into something far more musical, with that analog drift and warmth that makes tape delays so appealing.

Delay time changes are completely smooth with no zipper noise, which, for me, is essential for live tweaking. If you like NastyDLA mkIII but need macOS support, DelaySon is an excellent choice.
