Jamstix Free

Jamstix does something no other plugin on this list does. Instead of triggering static samples or MIDI loops, it uses AI algorithms to generate drum parts that respond dynamically to your playing. You can feed it audio or MIDI input, and it reacts like a live drummer would. It’s pretty cool for quickly making drum parts without using pre-made MIDI files. The free version includes eight drummer models, several playing styles, and 200 drum samples.

I need to flag some concerns, though. The developer (Rayzoon) has not been publicly active for several years. The Mac version has been officially discontinued, and the plugin is VST2 only (no VST3 or AU). It still works fine on Windows, and the generative drumming is genuinely unique, but the future of the platform is uncertain. That said, it’s pretty unique, and you can also route Jamstix’s MIDI output to other drum plugins for better sound quality.
